The pharmacy intern post graduate is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in medication preparation, compounding, inventory management, and distribution, requiring extreme accuracy and attention to detail. The pharmacy intern has responsibility for assisting with controlled substances management, meeting DEA, FDA, and state regulations, and has access to and manages medication storage areas using pharmacy automation.  The pharmacy intern fields and triages calls and questions regarding medication distribution, assisting other caregivers within their scope of practice.  The intern will also actively participate in clinical and administrative functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to augment their education and to gain insight and practical experience in their future roles as pharmacists.

Qualifications

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy including didactic courses and experiential rotations in pharmaceutical care
    • Active Pharmacist License in good standing in the state in which the employee works required within 6 months of graduation from accredited school of Pharmacy 
    • Active Pharmacist Intern License in good standing in the state in which the employee works; PHRMINTERN:XX
    TN - PHARMTECH:TN or PHRMINTERN:TN Registered Pharmacy Tech from TN State Board for employees working in TN is acceptable in lieu of Pharmacist Intern License
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, Excellent knowledge of drug names desired with the expectation of continuing education on new drugs.  Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to the pharmacy profession.Skills in multi-disciplinary team involvement with direct patient care.  Must be available to work rotating shifts and weekends.
