At Penrose Hospital, a proud Magnet® designated hospital, the Bariatric & Back
department sees a wide range of issues but specializes on spinal and bariatric surgery. We
are the only floor that is equipped and trained to take a bariatric surgical patient, so we
offer a specialized skill set with multiple growth opportunities for our staff. In our
department, we currently have 23 beds and a 1:4 or 1:5 nurse patient ratio. Our
department focuses on teamwork and dynamic problem solving. We want everyone to
feel like they have a voice and get the support they need. Our department is full of nurses
