Assists department leadership by coordinating programmatic activities, including supervising the quality of treatment and care of the patients. Acts as liaison between physicians and the patient care team. Maintains communication and promotes cooperation with other departments. Provides support and guidance to staff, authorizes work procedures and delegates duties. Assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient. Promotes the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.

 

Job Responsibilities Include: 

  • Manage the build out and oversee the day to day facility operations within the cardiovascular service line
    Maintains detailed records to measure effectiveness of program and suggest ways to improve throughout the process.
  • Serves on accreditation committees for the specialty of practice and monitors compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Work to obtain and/or maintain certification of the programs through relevant accrediting agencies.
  • Efficiently monitor concurrent and retrospective data collection by completing data tools and entering into databases when necessary, or partnering with registrars.
  • Attends national/regional/local conferences pertinent to the program.
  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, develops, maintains and monitors service line specific practice guidelines, order sets and clinical pathways based on evidence-based medicine.
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical and managerial skills contributing to the development, maintenance and change necessary to implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Identifies and facilitates service line education for nursing and allied health personnel
  • Participates as needed on enterprise service line clinical councils
  • Implements enterprise service line priorities as a representative of the hospital
  • Services as a role model, teacher, coach and mentor for the healthcare team and community.
  • Assists with patient and family education and patient satisfaction.
  • Assists with patient flow throughout the care continuum.

The Schedule is Monday-Friday mostly days, may require meeting with the night shift team on rare occasions.

 

In this role you will be in charge of managing daily STEMI case summary reports, managing 7 NCDR/STS registries at Penrose Hospital, and the Cardiac Cath Lab through ACC. You will be in charge of hosting a variety of meetings quarterly and monthly with internal and external entities. Other duties as assigned. This role has another RN Program Coordinator Counterpart that you will support while they are on PTO/FMLA.

Qualifications

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing required
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs

Experience Requirements

  • 5 year's acute care experience preferred
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
  • Good communication skills, conflict resolution and collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Works well independently, self-motivator

Licenses/Certification Requirements

  • RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact

Physical Requirements 

  • Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

$39.58 - $63.13 / hour
