Join our team as an OB Tech! As an OB Tech on our team, you will assist in smooth daily operations of the Labor & Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum unit. May perform direct and indirect patient care including vitals, hygiene measures, and basic care for antepartum, postpartum and newborn patients.

 

OB Techs functions include:

  • Assists with vaginal deliveries under the direction of a Registered Nurse and provider and within scope of practice.
  • Functions as a Scrub Tech for surgical procedures.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment on the unit.
  • Assists with maintenance of Point of Care Testing and High Level Disinfection equipment.
  • Performs clerical and business support tasks as assigned.
  • Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

Day to Day:

  • Primary Duties will be;
  • Scrubbing on C-Sections (emergent/ Scheduled), D&C’s, emergency hysterectomies, and assisting w/vaginal deliveries.
  • Providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed.
  • Maintaining Sterile field during procedures.
  • Functioning in a secretarial role when there isn’t coverage.
  • Assisting with room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
  • Answering call lights and doors, making charts, patient check in and rooming, arriving/discharging patients in EPIC.

Deliveries per month-40-50

1 OR Suite, 1 Triage Room, 12 LDRP Beds, 4 Pediatric Rooms, 7 open bay NICU lvl II rooms

 

Schedule: 24hrs/week-Nights- Variable shift times per surgical Volume and current unit needs 

 

Call required: 2shifts per 6 week schedule block- Days and Nights

30min Call back radius required- 15mins preferred for sts/c-sections when on call.

Qualifications

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • One-year patient care experience preferred, i.e. OB Tech, LPN/LVN, EMT, CNA,
  • Medical Assistant or Surgical Tech experience
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Basic computer skills
  • High School graduate or GED
  • Completion of a Surgical Tech program, preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
  • Colorado Surgical Assistant License or Surgical Technician upon hire unless performing Surgical Assistant duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (required for Colorado employed staff only)

Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

The OB Post-Partum department at St. Catherine Hospital consists of 12 LDRP, one triage, one OR suite, four pediatric rooms and seven open bay NICU Level II rooms. This consists of three different units: L&D, pediatrics and NICU. We treat pregnant women, pediatric patients from two to 17 days, 32 weeks gestational to 40 weeks for NICU. This department is desirable as it is a rural, main hub, where caregivers get to see and do almost anything. We are very hands-on when taking care of patients. Candidates are welcome who are flexible and passionate about patient care. Candidates must be willing to help in other departments depending on our census. Our department is great for growing your skill and helping you on your career journey.

$19.62 - $29.69 / hour
