As an Environmental Service Specialist with us you are essential to ensuring every patient, associate and visitor has an exceptional experience. Providing basic and specialty cleaning services to all areas of the hospital, focusing primarily on the operations of heavy mechanical equipment (e.g., scrubbers, buffers, polishers, extractors, wet vacuuming equipment, etc.) used in the cleaning and maintenance of hard and soft (i.e., carpet) flooring surfaces, including stairwells, hallways, and public spaces.

Work includes providing a safe care environment for patients, and staff and visitors as appropriate to the setting. Demonstrating the principles of cleaning, disinfection, and quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff.

• Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control standards while promoting a culture of safety.
• Operates all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturers safety standards and procedures.
• Performs project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs. Can include tasks such as conference room set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
• Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of specialty units & equipment. Areas include but are not limited to Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health and Burn Unit.
• Performs duties while demonstrating working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the specialty environment tasked with servicing.
• Follows all environmental and infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Demonstrates understanding of the training and education related to evidence-based recommendations in accordance with the Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE), Association for Professional in Infection Control (APIC) and Association for perioperative Nurses (AORN), CDC, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies.

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

• Minimum six months of institutional or commercial cleaning experience, required
• Completed competency checklist or equivalent experience in an institutional or commercial setting.
• Strong communication skills; ability to read, write and speak English. Must possess basic computer skills.
• High School Diploma or GED, preferred

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

At Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley, our Respiratory Therapy department consists of nearly 25 talented employees including respiratory therapists, clinical coordinators, supervisors, and a charge respiratory therapist. As a level 3 trauma center that has recently expanded to triple our capacity, we care for patients of all age groups. In West Jordan, we are known for a positive and caring culture within the relaxed suburban area. At Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley, our Telemetry department has 16 beds with a 4:1 ratio during the days and 5:1 ratio during the nights. Here, our nurses gain experience in a hospital setting by monitoring patients with acute diagnoses of sepsis, strokes, and heart attacks. Patients in this department are not sick enough for ICU, but not well enough for MedSurg. This department is an excellent place for learning and growth, especially for nurses who are interested in ICU or ER. Our team consists of passionate and driven caregivers who are always willing to go above and beyond for patients and coworkers.
