At St. Anthony North Hospital (144th), a proud Magnet designated hospital, our Emergency Department has 34 beds with a range from 80-120 patients per day. As a Level III trauma, stroke, and STEMI certified emergency department, we see neonatal through geriatric populations and take care of anything and everything. We see some low acuity, but mostly high acuity patients, including sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, falls and abdominal pain with about a 25% admission rate. Given the unpredictability of the ED, our nurse-to-patient ratio can vary but we strive for 4:1. Our goal is for our patients and their family members to know that when they enter our ED, they will be treated with respect, dignity and receive excellent care by our talented nurses, critical care techs and providers. Known for having great teamwork and shared governance, our team effectively works together on processes and initiatives that increase employee satisfaction and facilitate close relationships between staff and providers. We currently do self-scheduling with a block holiday pattern, allowing employees to know what holidays they are working for the next 3 years. To be part of our team, we look for someone who is open minded, energetic, and team-oriented with a great attitude and communication skills. Being a very high-stress, high-emotion environment, it is important that we have compassion for all those that trust us to take care of them.
