We values our incredible Certified Nursing Assistants and want to ensure they practice at top of their license to better optimize their skills and experience. We’ve also developed a career path framework for CNAs that clarifies paths to move, develop and advance CNA careers into nursing and other roles. The Certified Nursing Assistants provides direct and indirect nursing care under the direction of a RN and in accordance with policies and procedures.

The Medical and Surgical Unit at Penrose Hospital, one of our proud Magnet® designated hospitals, focuses on back and bariatrics consisting of 23 beds and is considered a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The BBU nurses specialize in caring for post-op bariatric weight reduction surgical patients, and those who have had orthopedic spine surgical procedures. We believe in a multi-disciplinary approach to provide excellent patient care. Our interdepartmental relationships allow our employees to treat patients and families holistically. The team works together towards a common goal of excellent patient experience and a welcoming work environment. The BBU leadership and clinical teams promote shared governance through dynamic unit and hospital committee involvement. Nurses are encouraged to further their education and career through certification and continuing education. We seek nurses that are team-players who are eager to learn and are on a mission to deliver exceptional compassionate patient care.
