Day to Day duties:

  • Scrub on all cases. Primarily, Specialize in Heart, Vascular, GEN, GYN, Urology, Ortho (Totals/ Sports Medicine), Spine, Neuro, Plastics, Robotics (DaVinci XI) and Trauma.
  • Dedicated service teams for hearts and Vascular only. Associates are cross trained for all other services.
  • Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
  • Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
  • Maintain Sterile field during procedures.
  • Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs
  • Maintaining and updating preference cards.

One year of OR experience Required

Previous Cardiac/Heart Team experience required 

 

16 OR Suites

Approx. 250-350+ cases per month

 

Schedule: 40hrs/week Days-0630-1500

 

Call Required- average 1 call shift per week Mon – Thu, one Friday call every 4 to 6 weeks and one 24-hour weekend call about every 4 to 6 weeks-40-50hrs per month

30 min callback radius required

Qualifications

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • Experience in a specialty field preferred.
  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech required
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required

Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

The Surgery Department at Penrose Hospital has 16 OR suites and performs 30 – 40 cases per day. We specialize in heart, vascular, general, gynecology, urology, ortho, spine, neuro, plastics, robotics, and trauma procedures on adult patients only. $26.49 - $46.43 /hour
